MUJI opens first store in Burnaby

August 25 marked the grand opening of a new store for the minimalist Japanese retailer MUJI, in Metrotown, Burnaby, the Vancouver Sun reported on August 25.

The event featured several demonstrations of traditional Japanese culture including shodo (calligraphy) and chado (tea ceremony).

MUJI offers a range of household items, clothing, skincare and beauty items, and food products that are simply designed. Satoru Matsuzaki, president of MUJI’s parent company, Ryohin Keikaku said that he hopes that the products will help Canadian customers improve their lifestyle.
