Our customers are typically European or Canadian technology companies wishing to extend their business into the North American and Japanese marketplaces.

ACADEMIC

Patricia Bader-Johnston has been a fixture in the Canadian community in Japan since 1984 when she arrived to teac. She then spent more than a decade working in government, both Japanese and the Canadian Embassy. After completing her MBA at McGill, she spent another decade in the private sector as Vice President with Goldmans Sachs, Director with BAT and Standard Chartered Bank and finally serving on the Board of IBM Japan. She then started the first of a series of companies. She continues to teach in Japan and abroad. Community service has always been a priority, and Patricia has served for over 20 years as a CCCJ Governor and as CCCJ Chair. She recently founded the Vancouver Community Kintsugi Association (VCKA) along with JC community members and friends of Japan in Vancouver. VCKA is a not-for-profit commemorating the legacy of the Japanese-Canadian community in Canada along with the legacies of the First Nations and other Asian-Canadian groups who call that area home.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Hannah Edward I am Canadian-born with roots in the Philippines, Singapore and India. After graduating from the University of British Columbia (majoring in international relations) I came to Tokyo in pursuit of international experience to match my degree and my international identity. As a CCCJ member, I hope to satisfy my curiosity for the international world and connect to those with similar roots, and a similar affiliation with Japan

 

Lida Faridian  As a Canadian researcher in Japan, I work on the AI Moonshot project at Tokyo Women’s Medical University while pursuing my PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Waseda University, focusing on quantum computing applications in enhancing surgical robotics. I joined the CCCJ Young Professionals Network to connect with like-minded professionals interested in healthcare innovations and cross-country industry-academia collaborations. I look forward to meeting you in person!

James Howell Born in England, I moved to Ontario when I was a year old. Since then I’ve called Oakville, Toronto, Jasper, Vancouver and now Yokohama my home. My wife Hanako and I moved to Japan to work at her family’s business – a real estate investment company. I’ve been to many CCCJ events already and look forward to making connections with other Canadians in Japan. Oh, and if I’m not working, I’m either golfing or rock climbing!

 

 

Daniel Saas  Born and raised in Toronto. I am currently a third-year student at the University of British Columbia, majoring in Combined Economics & Statistics. I am currently on an exchange program in Tokyo and would love to take this opportunity to engage with the CCCJ community and learn from professionals with ties to both Canada and Japan.

 

 

Liam de Seve I have nearly 10 years of experience in IT, having worked full-time while completing my Bachelor’s degree. In my career so far, I have helped build multiple departments, leveraging both strategic and technical expertise. Now, as a Data Analytics Consultant, I work with Novo Nordisk, focusing on data-driven decision-making and digital transformation. As a Young Professional member of the CCCJ, I look forward to connecting with industry leaders and contributing to Canada-Japan business innovation.
