Individuals

Shingo Hattori
I’m a Tokyo-based lawyer qualified in Japan and New York. Born and raised in Tokyo, I studied on two separate occasions in North America and wanted to join this community. I previously worked for the City of Yokohama as well as at a general contractor, where I was in charge of investment projects in North America. I’m the founder of Hattori Law, which provides legal services for foreign businesses in Japan.

Ravi Persaud
Born and raised in Waterloo, Ontario, I moved to Japan in spring 2022 and now live in Nagoya. I’m a grad student at the Nagoya University of Commerce & Business, and also work remotely as a solutions architect for Elite HubSpot Partner Agency Six & Flow in the UK. Experienced in sales, partnerships and marketing technology via the Canadian SaaS scene. Looking forward to being part of the CCCJ community!

Habib Imam

I’m a founder of Menlo Park Capital, a global venture capital and business consulting firm focused on breeding high-impact entrepreneurs in Europe, Canada and the United States as well as in emerging markets like Indonesia, Singapore and India. We make strategic investments in selected core areas: climate tech, deep tech, robotics, artificial intelligence, and sustainability. I previously worked at Toyota, Deloitte, and Softbank Robotics. I joined the CCCJ to bring Canadian startups doing AI research to Japan.

Kenichi Yasuda

I’m an attorney admitted in Japan and New York, and an equity partner at Dojiima Law Office. In addition to experience in Japan, I have studied at New York University and worked in China and Thailand. One of my majors is labor law cases, including litigation, and I support Japanese entities of foreign-based companies. My partner company is a CCCJ member, so I decided to join this great chamber.

Chris Doyama

I’m a fourth-generation Japanese Canadian born and raised in Toronto. This is my second stint in Japan after running regional offices in Singapore and as country manager in Beijing, China. Superdrive is the second company I’ve launched in Japan—a marketing creative agency/consultancy that uses technology and data to help marketers validate that their marketing efforts have business outcomes. We basically help prove that great work actually works!

Zhengyang Chen

A Chinese Canadian born in China, I grew up in Ottawa. After studying engineering at the University of Toronto, I started a venture developing smart parking management technologies to simplify street and indoor parking. After moving to Yokohama in 2020 as a Japanese government scholar majoring in macroeconomics, I am now the head of externals for the MEXT Scholars Association. I hope to connect to the Canadian business communities here and explore ideas on how foreign talents can thrive in Japan.

John Kirch

I came to Japan in early 1984 on a scholarship from METI to study at IIST, one of Japan’s first MBA programs, then worked as a systems architect for Bank of America in Tokyo, Hong Kong and London. I later devised advanced software solutions for financial management, big data and cybersecurity. Currently I’m the head of sales here for beqom, a leading software developer in Nyon, Switzerland. A Duke University graduate, I’m married to a Japanese woman and an avid cyclist.
